To the woods.

It’s about that time of the semester when there are more and more afternoons that I just can’t stare at a computer screen any longer. I can’t spend another minute in a room without windows, cooped up in a world of papers and projects and deadlines. Some days, the pull of the fresh air is too much to resist. So around mid-afternoon, I log off and shut down, call a like-minded friend, and escape the confines of the indoors. I trade walls for trees, florescent lights for sunshine, and the desk chair for a rock perch overlooking a winding river.

It’s here that I feel at home. It’s here that I am inspired, the ideas flow, and I can think clearly. It’s here that I’m happy and true to myself and know what I want. It’s here that a bad day is always made good and a good day is always made better.

Sometimes, you need to just go to the woods.

And sometimes, at the end of the day, a beer and a tray of fries are in order.
