A weekend in Quehanna, part 3.

In late February, I spent a weekend hiking and biking in the Quehanna Wild Area with my friend Emma. Check out part 1 here and part 2 here if you missed them. Day 3: Solo.  Monday promised sun and warmth at last. The day before, after Emma made the decision to head home, I continued …

A weekend in Quehanna, part 2.

In late February, I spent a weekend hiking and biking in the Quehanna Wild Area with my friend Emma. If you missed Part 1, check it out here for a history of the area and rainy day exploration on foot.  Day 2: Change of plans – again. Something felt off on Sunday morning. Maybe it …

A weekend in Quehanna, part 1.

The Quehanna Wild Area is the largest state forest wild area in the state of Pennsylvania, covering just over 48,000 acres and boasting herds of native elk, the largest stand of white birch in the eastern United States and an interesting nuclear history. In the 50's, the land that would eventually become the wild area …

Slipped, slid and crunched our way through Rothrock today. And @ikenhower24 apparently grows trees out of his neck.
Sun’s out, fun’s out! ☀️Truly sunny days are so rare in PA, it makes us appreciate them that much more.
Waking up in the woods. I wrote some words about this past weekend’s bike camping trip in the Pine Creek Gorge. Go check it out! Link in profile.
One of this weekend’s highlights: Coming down Bear Trap Trail with perfect light and perfect snow. So good. Thanks for the 📷 @chainsaw_don.
Had a great time bike camping in the Pine Creek Gorge this weekend. Thanks @chainsaw_don and @mountain_top_provisions for the hospitality! I’m pretty sure it was my best winter camping experience yet.
New @nittanymountainworks tool roll prototype complete with @pennsylvaniagray custom art. Can’t wait to try it out this weekend!
Throwback to pre-thaw as the cold air returns. It’s not time for spring yet, folks. Also, I should XC ski more.
Mandatory office bike ride when it’s 60 degrees in February. @paenvironmentalcouncil And #foreverbuttphotos because I’m rarely fast enough to be far enough ahead to take a picture and I hate stopping the flow of the ride to ask for a photo op.
Southeast/northwest. These two pictures were taken from the same spot at the same time, but in opposite directions. Life analogy: things can appear so different depending on which way you look. Been in a funk the past couple of days so I’m trying my darndest to see things from a positive perspective. Always with some help from my personal cheerleader @pennsylvaniagray.
Splash.
Another solid day of rolling fat. Warm and sunny vibes, screamin’ snowmobile trail downhills, and @ikenhower24’s smoked mac and cheese after were all 👌
It was an enchanted winter wonderland at Black Mo today. We had so much fun last week we had to go back. Getting after that powder before it melts next week... Also, sun!!!!
